Vazquez: Department of Education grant to fund professional training courses
PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 28 – State Rep. Emilio Vazquez, D-Phila, announced today that the Energy Coordinating Agency received a grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Education to provide training and certification courses to local residents.
“This will help people in our area broaden their career opportunities,” Vazquez said. “Now there is a chance for those who need a fresh start to learn important new skills.”
The training courses are free, and participants can receive OSHA 10, EPA RRP Lead, NCCER Core, BPI WHASI, and NABCEP certifications.
Those who participate must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED certificate and pass a drug screening. Individuals must also take a Myers-Briggs personality test and physical assessments to qualify.
Orientation for the programs begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at ECA, which is located at 106 W. Clearfield St.
