The Department of Environmental Protection has released five drilling permits for the Marcellus Shale formation. DEP says the permits will protect water resources while potentially unlocking tremendous new natural gas reserves, leading to millions of dollars in new investments for my legislative district, lower energy prices and reduced pollution through an increased supply of cleaner burning fuel.
As part of this development, DEP worked diligently to safeguard Pennsylvania’s water resources and to ensure that more residents and communities could begin realizing the potential economic benefits that the Marcellus Shale formation holds.
I want to alert you to a special Web page created by DEP specific to the Marcellus Shale that features resources for industry and information for landowners and the public on drilling.
