Warren resolution commemorates 150th anniversary of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

State Rep. Perry Warren, recognized the 150th anniversary of the 14th Amendment with H.R. 999.

 

House Resolution 999, was introduced by Warren and adopted by the House of Representatives, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the ratification of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on July 9.

 

Originally ratified in 1868, the amendment granted rights that previously had been denied based on race and has been used to combat other various types of injustice.

 

“Now more than ever we must recognize the importance of upholding equality and moving society forward,” Warren said. “Honoring this part of our nation’s history reinforces the idea that we must continue to champion those efforts diligently.”
