AVI Town Meeting

On March 21, state Rep. Rosita C. Youngblood hosted a town hall meeting in Philadelphia regarding the city's new property tax reassessment proposal, known as Actual Value Initiative, or AVI. Nearly 250 concerns citizens attended the meeting, all with questions and concerns as to how the city new property tax plan would impact them. To further assist members of the community, Youngblood invited City Controller Alan Butkovitz and representatives from Councilwoman Cindy Bass' office to speak at the event. Youngblood said the turnout for this meeting, and the amount of casework her district office has done on AVI, highlights the need for the city to take a breath and slow down the reassessment process.
