Pennsylvania's road, bridge and mass transit systems are crumbling around us. In Allegheny County, the transportation system is at a crossroad. Roads and bridges are in desperate need of repair and funding for mass transit is at a critical point. The Port Authority of Allegheny County has approved a 35 percent cut in all public transit service, effective Sept. 2, 2012 to cover a projected $64 million budget deficit. Pa. House Democrats support measures to fund shared ride routes for the most vulnerable citizens and encourage Gov. Tom Corbett to follow the recommendations of his Transportation Commission on solutions to the Commonwealth's transportation crisis.
