Electric Reliability at a Lower CostHouse Bill 2200 would enable consumers to take control of their energy use and costs with targeted strategies through smart metering. It also would require power generators and distributors to invest in conservation to reduce overall energy output. The bill awaits Senate Action. The Energy Independence FundSpecial Session House Bill 1 would establish an $850 million energy fund to provide household appliance and solar energy rebates; venture capital, grants and loans for the expansion of alternate energy companies; and funding for clean and alternative energy economic development projects. The bill awaits Senate action. Reducing Reliance on Foreign FuelHouse Bill 1202 would help keep Pennsylvania's energy dollars ($30 billion annually) at home by having the state shift to cleaner alternative fuels, growing and using 1 billion gallons of clean and renewable fuels. The standard would require every gallon of gas sold in Pennsylvania to have 10 percent ethanol, and every gallon of diesel to have an increasing amount (up to 20 percent) of soy or other renewable oil. The bill awaits Senate action. Tell your state senator that you care about Pennsylvania's energy future and they should too. Tell your senator and the Senate leaders who control the agenda to pass the House Democrats' energy strategy that would lower our energy bills and reduce our reliance on foreign oil. |
