Rep. Tim Briggs welcomed the state champion Lower Merion High School Aces basketball team and coaches to the Capitol. The Aces were recognized on the floor of the House and presented with citations. In March, the Lower Merion High School Aces won the PIAA Boys Basketball AAAA state championship by beating Chester 63-47. Reps. Pam DeLissio and Mary Jo Daley were also on-hand to recognize the team.

Rep. Tim Briggs is joining a renewed push to update archaic statute-of-limitations laws in child sexual abuse cases. The legislation he supports would abolish the statute of limitations on criminal charges and civil lawsuits in cases of child sexual abuse, as well as suspend for two years now expired statute of limitations in child sex abuse cases, providing a window of opportunity for those victims to file a civil lawsuit.

State Rep. Tim Briggs delivered 515 signatures to members of the Pennsylvania Legislative Reapportionment Commission opposing the commission’s plan to split Lower Merion Township among four legislative districts. 

Briggs, along with Reps. Mike Gerber and Pam DeLissio, who also represent parts of Lower Merion Township, provided residents the opportunity to have their voices heard in the state reapportionment process through a petition on their websites. The petition stresses opposition to the split, stating that further division in the Lower Merion community would make it more difficult for residents and representatives alike to focus on the problems and concerns specific to the township.

The last day for the public to comment on the commission's proposed plan was May 14, 2012.

This year students were invited to imagine a law that would make their school, community or state a better place. Rep. Briggs presented each student with a Pennsylvania House of Representatives citation for achievement.
