Biography

Rep. Gibbons and wife Jennifer on the day he was sworn in for his second term representing the 10th Legislative District.

Rep. Jaret Gibbons (D-10, Lawrence/Beaver/Butler) is a native of Ellwood City, Lawrence County. He was locally educated, graduating from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science and business administration from Duquesne University, graduating summa cum laude. Gibbons graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate and Certificate in Comparative and International Law. During that time, he served as editor-in-chief of the legal journal the Pittsburgh Tax Review.

Professional Experience

Gibbons' government and legal experiences prepared him to handle the task of representing the 10th Legislative District. He served as a Finnegan Fellow with the Pennsylvania Department of State's Bureau of Elections and worked in the local office of a state senator in Allegheny County. He managed the Government Accounting Standards Board Rule 34 accounting project for an Allegheny County municipality and worked with multiple law firms throughout the greater Pittsburgh region. He is a licensed attorney and a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Beaver County Bar Associations.

Community Activities

Gibbons also is active in his community. He is a member of the Ellwood City Sons of Italy Lodge #608, Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II, Ellwood City Elks Lodge #1356, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #93, Ellwood City Historical Society, Civil Air Patrol (Major in the Legislative Wing), People Concerned for the Unborn Child (New Castle Chapter), National Rifle Association, NAACP, Ellwood-Wampum Rod and Gun Club and Slippery Rock Sportsmen’s Club. Gibbons is a member of Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish where he has served as an usher, chorister and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Lawrence County Community Action Partnership and the James A. Finnegan Foundation.

Family Life

Rep. Gibbons resides in Franklin Township, Beaver County with his wife Jennifer, daughter Annabella, and their two coonhound dogs, Bentley and Max. He is the son of Carol Gibbons and the late Ralph Gibbons, Jr. of Ellwood City.

Gibbons is a member of the Southwest and Northwest Democratic Caucuses, as well as a variety of bipartisan legislative caucuses, including: Sportsmen's, Pro-Life, Firefighters and Emergency Services, Oil and Gas, Coal, Autism, Lupus, Alzheimer’s, Community College, PA Fair, Alternative Energy, Irish, Italian-American, Veterans and Bipartisan Reform Caucuses.
