Rep. Richard T. Grucela began his public service when elected Lower Mt. Bethel Township supervisor in 1974. An Easton Area High School teacher for 31 years, Grucela attended East Stroudsburg University earning both a bachelor's in secondary education (1968) and a master's in political science (1974). He was president of the Northampton County Council from 1987-1990 and previously was chairman of the Lower Mt. Bethel Township supervisors.

He is a member of the Executive Board, Easton Area Education Association; Board of Directors, Slate Belt Veterans Association; and is a Democratic Committeeman in Lower Mt. Bethel Township.

Grucela also is active in several social organizations including the Father DeNisco Council Knights of Columbus, Bangor Elks BPOE#6, Bangor Exchange Club, Nazareth Jacksonian Club and Lower Mount Bethel Township Democratic Club. He also has coached area youth baseball and basketball teams.

Grucela resides in Martins Creek with his wife, Gina Ann, and is the proud father of Patrick, who lives in Boston, and Salomea, a senior at Penn State University.
