In the 2011-2012 regular session, Ken is the prime sponsor of:

  • H.B. 1265, which would require all public, nonpublic, parochial, private or charter schools to keep and maintain automated external defibrillators (AED’s) in all occupied school buildings. In addition, it would require schools to train staff and some students on correct usage.

Smith also authored H.R.s 146 and 651, which were adopted by the House, designating April 28 as "Workers Memorial Day" in 2011 and 2012 respectively. The resolutions honor Pennsylvania workers who have been killed, injured or physically disabled because of workplace injuries.
