HOUSE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP LETTERS

No ifs, ands or butts about it...Senate action needed on health care

As most Pennsylvanians know, the state's public smoking ban went into effect this week. The state Health Department has done a great job of explaining the ins and outs of the new law and if you'd like to learn more, you can visit their Web site.

Implementation of the smoking ban is just one of many successful House Democratic efforts during the 2007-2008 legislative session to reform our health-care system through a larger initiative known as Rx for PA.

We've also:

  • Enacted landmark legislation to reduce hospital acquired infections that take thousands of lives each year.
  • Enacted a series of measures giving health-care professionals the chance to practice to the fullest extent of their skills and experience.
  • Enacted legislation to get kids off to a nutritionally sound start.

Rather than rest on our accomplishments, we'd like you to join our efforts in bringing affordable health care to more than 270,000 working adults through the Pennsylvania ABC program.

The House sent the proposal to the Senate 179 days ago and they've yet to take a vote on it. Contact the state Senate today and tell them it's time to stop delaying and vote in favor of the House Democrats' plan for affordable, accessible health care through Pennsylvania ABC.

Take action on health care now!
