Rep. Timothy S. Mahoney's Biography
State Representative Tim Mahoney (D-51, Fayette), a former United Mine Worker and life-long resident of Fayette County, was first elected to represent the citizens of the 51st legislative district in 2006.
The product of a hard-working and close-knit family, Mahoney has established numerous successful business enterprises in the area. Prior to his election to the state House, he served the people of Fayette County as Jury Commissioner, a position which he was elected to in 2001.
Over the years, Mahoney has served his community in many ways through various organizations and activities. He has coached youth league baseball and basketball teams, has been an active member in area booster clubs and has served on the YMCA and Fayette County Airport Authority boards of directors. He also is an avid sportsman.
Mahoney's legislative priorities include: reforming property taxes, providing for senior citizens, improving education, and increasing job opportunities and economic development projects for Fayette County.
Mahoney and his wife Beth reside in Fayette County and have four children: Timmy, Lauren, Meg and Patrick.
