Jennifer L. Mann is a Democrat first elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1998. She represents the 132nd Legislative District, which includes portions of the city of Allentown in Lehigh County. Rep. Mann serves in House leadership as the majority caucus secretary. She is only the third woman to serve in a House Democratic leadership position since the Pennsylvania legislature was formed. During her tenure in the legislature, she has served on the House Finance, Environmental Resources and Energy, Consumer Affairs, Insurance and Transportation committees. She is the co-chairwoman of the New Democrat Coalition, the Community College Caucus and the Arthritis Caucus, and serves on the House Rules and Policy committees. Rep. Mann's legislative priorities include reducing crime and gang violence, providing increased and equitable funding for schools, strengthening penalties for sexual predators who commit crimes against children, and making the state more business friendly. In her community, Rep. Mann is on the board of the Arthritis Foundation of the Lehigh Valley; Allentown Art Museum Board of Associates; Muhlenberg College Board of Associates; Cedar Crest College Board of Associates; Board of Directors for the Presbyterian Housing and Services Corporation; and on the Honorary Board of Junior Achievement of the Lehigh Valley. She serves as a government liaison for the Program for Women and Families, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence. Nationally, she is a member of the Democratic Leadership Council Leadership Team, serving as the chairwoman of the DLC’s State Legislative Advisory Board (SLAB). A lifelong resident of Allentown, Rep. Mann graduated from Lehigh University with degrees in government and economics. She is an avid golfer and a longtime Philadelphia Phillies fan. |
