Three local schools to receive $39,134 in grant funding



HARRISBURG, Dec. 14 – State Rep. Robert F. Matzie, D-Allegheny/Beaver, said three schools in his legislative district have been chosen to receive funding from the state's Safe Schools Targeted Grant program.

"I would like to congratulate the Aliquippa, Northgate and Moon school districts for receiving this funding," Matzie said. "These schools were chosen from a competitive and selective application process, which is a testament to their dedication."

Aliquippa School District in Beaver County will receive $15,000. Northgate School District in Allegheny County will receive $14,370. Moon Area School District, also in Allegheny County, will receive $9,764.

The grants will be used to establish and implement programs to prevent and reduce incidents of violence. Out of 97 total applicants, 37 schools were chosen to share in $479,513 total funding.
