Last December, the state Board of Education released the findings of the "costing-out" study that provided a Pennsylvania per-student dollar target for achieving adequate funding levels in each school district. The House Education Committee approved a measure to address the funding gap by implementing Gov. Rendell's proposal to increase the state share of education funding by $2.6 billion over the next six years. Rep. Rich Grucela,D-Northampton, comments on this legislation, and in a second bite, comments on additional education legislation he sponsored that could be voted on by the House next week.
