Rep. Waters delivers a $10,000 state grant check to students and coordinators of the Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Education Center’s Park Management for Youth program, a six-week summer program for high school students in Philadelphia. The $10,000 state grant will support the center's educational program and the hiring of a classroom instructor.

State Reps. Chris Sainato (pictured at left) and Jaret Gibbons (at far right) hosted an event honoring Korean War veterans and family members of veterans in the 9th Legislative District. The participants each received a citation from the state House of Representatives and medal honoring their service to the country. The ceremony was held at the American Legion Post 343 in New Castle.

During a recent ceremony at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Desmond Tutu, a South African cleric and activist, was honored for his work as an opponent of apartheid. State Rep. Louise Bishop was one of the distinguished guests who attended the ceremony. Tutu received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984, the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism, and the Magubela Prize for Liberty in 1986.
