State Rep. Tim Briggs congratulates the Lower Merion Area School District winner and finalists of his third annual "There Ought to be a Law" essay contest for fifth-grade students. This year students were invited to imagine a law that would make their school, community or state a better place. Rep. Briggs presented each student with a Pennsylvania House of Representatives citation for achievement.

State Rep. Harry Readshaw is pictured on the steps of the Capitol Rotunda with several of the 16-and-under participants at this year's Pennsylvania Gettysburg Monuments Project Preservation Ball. This year's ninth annual ball raised more than $8,000 for the continued cleaning and maintenance of the 146 Pennsylvania monuments and markers in Gettysburg National Military Park -- a project Readshaw founded in 1997.

State Rep. Tim Briggs presented House of Representatives citations to the Upper Merion Area Middle School finalists of his 3rd annual ‘There Ought to be a Law’ essay contest for fifth-grade students. Receiving their awards at the April 2012 Upper Merion School Board meeting were (pictured in no order) Maddie Harvey, Emily McKiernan, Kaleigh Myers and Brenna O’Donnell. Superintendent Dr. Melissa Jamula, Assistant Principal Dr. Karen Geller and School Board Member Dennis Morello, M.B.A.,Esq. also are pictured. Upper Merion student finalists Maria Locke and Caitlin Cifaldi could not attend the meeting and will receive their citations at a later board meeting.
