State Rep. Cherelle L. Parker was honored and humbled by the number of constituents who participated in her Earth Day celebration Spring Clean Up: Shredding and E-Recycling event on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Residents were able to bring boxes and bags of unwanted documents that contained personal information, including Social Security numbers, credit card numbers and bank account numbers to observe the proper shredding and disposal of these materials. Residents were also invited to drop off recyclable electronics, including TVs, computers and laptops, batteries, copiers, printers, scanners, home or wireless phones, video cameras and more.

The House Select Committee on School Safety and Security, co-chaired by state Rep. Cherelle L. Parker, on April 18, 2013, held it's first public meeting in reviewing current school safety and security policies and procedures in the state and making recommendations for change.
