A recent Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article describes Highmark's potential plans to outsource local jobs. As a member of the House Insurance Committee, I have asked the Committee to hold hearings on the issue in our area and across the Commonwealth. Such hearings would help members of the General Assembly gain more information and develop possible alternatives to outsourcing of jobs out of Pennsylvania. I am also requesting your input on the issue.
Please sign on to the petition and share your thoughts with me.
It is incumbent upon the General Assembly to explore any and all options and alternatives in order to prevent the loss of any Pennsylvania jobs.
Highmark enjoys non-profit status in Pennsylvania, and this provides an additional reason for action.
I want to ensure that no company engaged in shipping jobs overseas and putting local residents out of work enjoys tax incentives and benefits from the Commonwealth. I look forward to working with any and all interested parties to explore alternatives and begin a constructive dialogue to not only preserve local jobs, but look for ways to add jobs in Western Pennsylvania.
