As the economy slows, pressure builds for students to pay soaring college costs. Students and their parents spend a great deal of time and effort figuring out how to pay for college, a process that could be streamlined if everyone knew up front what the total cost of getting a four-year degree would be.
As the new legislative session gets underway, I will continue my fight to require our state-owned colleges and universities to freeze the tuition a student pays as a freshman for his or her four years of college. Knowing up front the total cost of college will allow students and their families to budget and secure financial aid, and allow students to spend more time on their studies and less time figuring out how to pay tuition bills.
