Rep. Pashinski announces property tax reduction for 121st District homeowners
Rep. Pashinski is pleased that the state will provide tax relief to homeowners in the 121st Legislative District this year, now that slots revenues from gaming facilities in Pennsylvania have reached the amount needed to allow for state-funded property tax relief.
Rep. Pashinski said the estimated property tax reduction per homeowner in local school districts is above the state average of $190 and is as follows:
Hanover Area School District, $214
Wilkes-Barre School District, $220
This year’s distribution marks the first relief provided under the Taxpayer Relief Act. Last year, gaming revenues also helped to expand the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, allowing 540,000 Pennsylvania senior citizens to receive $234 million in property tax relief.
The Property Tax Relief Fund contains nearly $613 million, which will be distributed to the state’s school districts for property tax reductions. The tax cuts will be reflected in homeowners' school property tax bills this summer.
