A new NCSL/Stateline survey found the average age of state lawmakers is 56 while the average age of the US voting population is 47. PA’s averages are 54 and 48 respectively. Millennials (born after 1980), who recently became the largest living generation, hold only 5% of state legislative seats while making up 31% of the voting age population. PA’s population includes 28% millennials with 6% of them in the legislature.
