According to the Moms Clean Air Force, every state has issued a fish advisory due to unsafe mercury contamination. Because mercury is a known neurotoxin, pregnant women are urged to limit their intake of large fish. Despite this warning, over 400,000 newborns are affected by mercury pollution annually. Coal-fired power plants are the largest source of toxic mercury, emitting 72% of all mercury air pollution in the US.
