Rep. Payton speaks at a news conference in support of legislation introduced by fellow Philadelphia state Rep. Babette Josephs that would require a 1,500-foot buffer between casinos and schools, playgrounds, parks and churches. The bill was introduced after some legislators said the state Gaming Control Board did not pay enough attention to the concerns of Philadelphia residents when approving locations for the city's two stand-alone casinos.

Rep. Payton joins other legislators to speak in support of legislation that is being considred in the House that would establish a statewide protocol for hospitals in the treatment of rape victims.
