Markosek receives transportation award
HARRISBURG, Dec. 16 -- State Rep. Joseph F. Markosek, former majority chairman of the House Transportation Committee and now chairman of the Committee on Appropriations, tonight will be honored with one of the top awards from the Women’s Transportation Seminar, an organization which exists to promote the industry among women.
Markosek, D-Allegheny, will share the Philadelphia Award with state Rep. Rick Geist, R-Blair, who was his counterpart on the House Transportation Committee. The award is given to professionals who have shown an extraordinary dedication and commitment to transportation.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” Markosek said. “I’m particularly pleased that the Women’s Transportation Seminar continues to highlight and promote discussions surrounding transportation which is one of the defining public policy issues of our time.”
Among other prominent Pennsylvania to receive the award in the past were Gov. Edward G. Rendell and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter.
