Petrone to chair hearing Thursday on economic impact of the arts
HARRISBURG, May 13 – State Rep. Thomas Petrone, D-Allegheny, chairman of the House Urban Affairs Committee, announced the committee will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m., Thursday in Harrisburg on the economic benefits of the arts to cities and towns.
"As chairman, it is my goal to focus on Pennsylvania's urban communities and help them make the decisions that could have a positive influence," Petrone said. "It's known that the arts bring a multitude of cultural benefits, but this public hearing will allow us to see what economic benefits may be reaped as well."
Members of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Point Park University, and statewide arts councils will testify at the hearing.
The meeting will be held in Room G-50, Irvis Office Building in the State Capitol Complex.
Media coverage is invited.
