Santarsiero to host free shredding event June 2 to prevent identity theft
NEWTOWN, May 30 – State Rep. Steve Santarsiero, D-Bucks, is hosting a free shredding event for the community to destroy unneeded confidential documents.
The shredding event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2 in the parking lot of the Charles Boehm Middle School, 866 Big Oak Road, Yardley.
"One of the simplest things you can do to protect yourself from identity theft is to shred documents with sensitive personal information that you no longer need," Santarsiero said. "I am hosting a free shredding event where those documents may be shredded safely and at no charge."
Attendees should bring any documents that contain personal information, including Social Security numbers, credit card numbers and bank account numbers, such as:
· Credit card statements
· Credit card applications
· Bank statements
· Canceled checks
· Income tax information
· Insurance records/information, including medical
· Retirement/pension fund Information.
Attendees are limited to three boxes or bags, each no more than 20 pounds, per household. The shredder cannot accommodate three-ring binders, but staples and paper clips are OK.
