Local seniors presented student leadership awards
HARRISBURG, June 2 – Several area high school seniors were chosen as this year’s recipients of state Rep. Peter J. Daley’s annual Student Leadership Award.
“I am so proud to honor these emerging leaders of tomorrow,” Daley said. “Their work and dedication to their education, as well as the leadership they showed while in school is worthy of recognition.
These students are a credit to their families, their schools and also to the educators and support staff in each of the school districts who fostered and supported the talent and initiative of these students.”
The awardees received a certificate, a congratulatory letter and $100.
Each year Daley selects graduating seniors who have performed exemplary work as an elected member of student government and who plan to continue their education.
This year’s recipients are:
- Madison Maxon, daughter of Monica Stay; Beth Center High School
- Angela Marie Pelehac, daughter of Mark and Valerie Pelehac; Brownsville Area High School
- Ian Gray Colbert, son of Michele and Morgan Colbert; California Area High School
- Courtney Vaughan, daughter of Denise Samuels; Charleroi High School
- Jacinda Renee Jones, daughter of Gerald and Janice Jones; McGuffey High School
- Michelle M. Bassi, daughter of Brad and Joan Bassi; Ringgold High School
