Petrarca announces state grant for sewage system inspection
HARRISBURG, Nov. 16 – State Rep. Joe Petrarca, D-Westmoreland/Armstrong, announced today that Allegheny Township in Westmoreland County will receive a $2,516 state grant to help pay for sewage system inspection and permitting duties.
Local governments are required to inspect and permit on-lot and community sewage systems under a state law passed in 1966. This law established the Sewage Facilities Planning Grants Program, which provides for grant funding to help reduce the costs of these permitting and enforcement activities for local governments and taxpayers.
Petrarca said the grant will reimburse Allegheny Township for approximately 42 percent of the cost of performing the sewage inspection, permitting and enforcement provisions outlined in the state law.
