Wagner, Frankel to announce smoking ban legislation
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 5 – State Reps. Chelsa Wagner and Dan Frankel, D-Allegheny, will hold a news conference 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 at Amel's Restaurant, 435 McNeilly Road in Pittsburgh, to announce legislation that would amend the state's new smoking ban law.
The lawmakers will also be joined by Cindy Thomas, executive director of Tobacco Free Allegheny.
The new Clean Indoor Air Act takes effect Thursday, Sept. 11, and prohibits smoking in most public places and workplaces, including restaurants, most bars and all nightclubs. It restricts local governments -- except Philadelphia -- from enacting stricter smoking bans.
