Majority Policy Committee, Parker to hold hearing on the use of expert testimony in sexual assault cases Friday in Philadelphia
HARRISBURG, Feb. 9 – Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the House Majority Policy Committee will hold a public hearing from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Feb. 12 at The Lutheran Theological Seminary, Brossman Center’s Benbow Hall, 7301 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia.
State Rep. Cherelle Parker, D-Phila., requested the hearing and will serve as co-chairperson. The current agenda for the hearing is:
- 10 a.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
- 10:10 a.m. – Panel of supporting organizations: Joyce Lukima, deputy director of Field Services, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape; Veronique Valliere, victim advocate, Women Organized Against Rape; Jill Maier, director of Counseling Services, Women Organized Against Rape; Mary Walsh, executive director, Coalition of Pennsylvania Crime Victim Organizations; Kris Ballerini, member of COPCVO’s Speakers Bureau
- 11 a.m. – Deborah Harley, chief of Family Violence/Sexual Assault Unit, Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association
- 11:20 a.m. – Panel of educators: Kristie Thomas, assistant director of the Ortner Center at the University of Pennsylvania; Lynn Hecht Schafran, director, National Judicial Education Program
- 11:50 a.m. – Closing remarks
