Majority Policy Committee, Vitali and Briggs to hold public hearing Thursday on leasing of state forest land for natural gas drilling
KING OF PRUSSIA, March 16 – Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the House Majority Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on the leasing of Pennsylvania's state forest land for natural gas drilling from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 18 at the Upper Merion Township Building, Freedom Hall, 175 W. Valley Forge Road, King of Prussia.
Southeast Pennsylvania state Reps. Greg Vitali, D-Delaware, and Tim Briggs, D-Montgomery, requested the hearing and will serve as co-chairs. The current agenda is:
- 10 a.m. – Welcome and opening remarks
- 10:10 a.m. – John Quigley, secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
- 10:30 a.m. – Matt Royer, Pennsylvania staff attorney, Chesapeake Bay Foundation
- 10:50 a.m. – Ray Werts, president, Western Clinton County Sportsmen Club
- 11:10 a.m. – Rick Carlson, retired, former DCNR policy director
- 11:30 a.m. – Robert "Butch" Davey, retired, former DCNR forester
- 11:50 a.m. – Closing remarks
