Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on Marcellus Shale air issues Wednesday in Media
HARRISBURG, Oct. 6 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced today that the committee will hold a public hearing regarding air quality issues related to the Marcellus Shale industry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 in the Large Auditorium, Room 2225 of Delaware County Community College’s Academic Building, 901 S. Media Line Rd, Media.
State Rep. Greg Vitali, D-Delaware, who requested the hearing, will serve as its co-chair. The hearing will focus on concerns of air pollution stemming from drilling in Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale natural gas formation.
The current hearing agenda is:
Ø Joe Osborne, staff attorney, Group Against Smog and Pollution
Ø Kevin Stewart, director of environmental health, American Lung Association of Pennsylvania
Ø Jay Duffy, staff attorney and Marcellus Shale coordinator, Clean Air Council
Ø Andrew Paterson, executive vice president of technical affairs, Marcellus Shale Coalition
Ø Jim Cooper, regulatory affairs environmental specialist, Chesapeake Energy
Ø Carla Susckowski, director of regulatory policy, Range Resources
