How 'well' is your well?

Assistance is available for home well water improvements

 

HARRISBURG, March 15 – The Northeast Democratic Delegation is announcing low-interest loans to help rural, income-eligible homeowners repair or upgrade their household water well systems.

 

The loans are through the Pocono Northeast Resource Conservation & Development Council and are for low-to-moderate income homeowners residing in rural areas.

 

To qualify, the applicant:

·         Must be a homeowner;

·         Show a documented issue with the household well water and ability to repay the loan;

·         Must be in a rural area (municipality with an average of fewer than 274 people per square mile) in one of the following counties: Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Schuylkill,  Wayne (visit http://www.ruralpa2.org/rural_muni_sd.cfm to determine eligibility);

·         Meet income guidelines - $53,015 for four-member household; $48,250 for three-member household; $43,520 for two-member household.

 

The Household Water Well System loans will not exceed $11,000 per household at 1 percent interest for a maximum of 20 years.
