Kavulich announces state recycling grants
HARRISBURG, Sept. 30 – State Rep. Sid Michaels Kavulich announced the awarding of recycling grants to two Lackawanna County communities.
The City of Carbondale has been awarded a grant of $11,398 for recycling 770 tons of trash in 2009, and Ransom Township was awarded $535 for recycling 54.7 tons. The grants are distributed by the state Department of Environmental Protection as part of the Recycling Performance Grant Program established by Act 101 of 1988.
The grant program is designed to reward Pennsylvania communities which increase the amount of material recovered through their recycling programs.
