Edwardsville receives state recycling grant
HARRISBURG, Oct. 5 – State Rep. Gerald Mullery, D-Newport Township, announced that Edwardsville has received $22,163 from the state Department of Environmental Protection as a reward for recycling performance and as an incentive to improving recycling rates.
The grant is based on Edwardsville recycling 1,704.7 tons of material in 2009 and the municipality's population.
"Edwardsville has an excellent recycling program, and I'm sure the borough will continue its good work," Mullery said. "The more we recycle the less waste that gets dumped in landfills."
The funding was awarded under the Recycling Performance Grant Program, which provides incentive for Pennsylvania communities to increase recycling rates and to promote economic growth through job creation and market expansion.
