House Judiciary Committee approves three bills
HARRISBURG, March 10 – State Rep. Tom Caltagirone, D-Berks, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said the committee today approved two House bills and one Senate bill, sending them to the full House of Representatives for consideration:
House Bill 967, introduced by state Rep. Mark Cohen, D-Phila., would amend a current law under which parental rights can be terminated to include cases where parents are convicted of committing rape and other crimes of sexual and indecent assault on their children.
House Bill 2221, introduced by state Rep. Will Gabig, D-Cumberland, would add a fifth exemption for serving jury duty to include people who previously served a full term of duty on an investigating grand jury.
Senate Bill 126, introduced by state Sen. John Gordner, R- Columbia, would amend current law to require people convicted of operating methamphetamine laboratories to pay for any environmental clean-up costs.
