HARRISBURG, Oct. 17 – Rep. Lawrence Curry, D-Montgomery/Phila., is proud to announce Rose Fevrier, a third-grade student at Cheltenham Elementary School, was awarded second place for Division One in the annual School Bus Safety Poster Contest.

The awards were presented this morning, at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg, timed to coincide with the start of National School Bus Safety Week. The week is an annual opportunity to focus attention on the importance of school bus safety, both for the students and the bus drivers.

"I am proud to know that young students in our area realize the importance of school bus safety, and very proud to have Rose’s poster represent the students in Cheltenham Elementary," Curry said.

This year’s theme of for the contest was, "I see the driver – the driver sees me." Eight-year-old Rose’s award-winning poster pictured a bus at a stop, with the theme’s title printed above the bus.

Awards were presented this morning to all the poster winners as well as bus drivers, who participated in safe driving competitions throughout the state.

Tours of the Governor’s Residence were also offered to the winners and their families after the ceremony.
