Neilson sworn in for first term in House of Representatives

HARRISBURG, May 8 – State Rep. Ed Neilson, D-Phila., was sworn into office today for his first term as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives serving the 169th Legislative District.

Neilson won the special election for the seat, left vacant by the resignation of former state Representative Dennis O’Brien.

"I am honored to have been chosen by the people of the 169th district and look forward to representing them in Harrisburg," Neilson said. “It has been an exciting day and I am thrilled to share it with my family and all those who have supported me. I look forward to hitting the ground running and getting meaningful work done to benefit the commonwealth as a whole. We have to focus on creating sustainable jobs, improving the educational climate and honoring and protecting the elderly. I'm looking forward to working with my colleagues to create real and effective solutions to those issues."

Neilson is a life-long member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 98 and formerly served as Deputy Secretary of Labor under the Rendell administration.

The representative is in the process of locating a convenient Philadelphia office location. In the interim, constituents can contact Neilson’s Harrisburg office at 717-787-4331 for free assistance with state-related services including PennDOT and Property Tax/Rent Rebate Applications.
