About 700 attend Lowery Brown's holiday programs
PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 7 – About 700 people attended two holiday-themed outreach programs in Philadelphia held by state Rep. Vanessa Lowery Brown that highlighted prevention and early intervention programs for children in Pennsylvania.
"The outreach programs allowed me to discuss my role as a state representative and stress the importance of these programs that help give our young people a good start in life," said Lowery Brown, D-Phila.
Lowery Brown served on the House Children and Youth Committee during the 2009-10 legislative session, and getting young people a good education and good start on life is one of her legislative priorities.
The events also featured entertainment and refreshments.
About 300 people attended the event at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Dec. 21 and about 400 people attended the event at the School of the Future on Dec. 22. Attendees were treated to entertainment by clowns, dance crews, cartoon characters and a magician. Santa Claus greeted children and posed for pictures with them.
