Youngblood to host career fair Thursday, April 19
PHILADELPHIA, April 18 – State Rep. Rosita C. Youngblood, D-Phila., will host a Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at the First Presbyterian Church in Germantown, located at 35 W. Chelten Ave.
Youngblood said the Career Fair will feature some of Philadelphia’s top employers including representatives form major banking institutions, major private employers, PA CareerLink, PA State Police, Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Civil Service Commission, SEPTA and a host of other employers.
Youngblood encourages job seekers to come prepared as several of the employers participating at the fair will be offering on-site interviews.
“The economy is still not looking good and I understand clearly the challenges that people who are unemployed are facing,” Youngblood said. “I understand because I have people in my own family who are smart, educated and have a positive past track record of employment, but who are struggling to find good jobs today with benefits. These are people who lost jobs due to no fault of their own.
“I have neighbors looking for work,” she continued. “I hear from constituents every day, their concerns about employment opportunities. From my district office and in Harrisburg, we are doing all we can to be helpful to those who are unemployed and who reach out to us for information.
“I certainly cannot promise that by attending the Career Fair everyone will walk away with a new job. But I will say this; I know that attending these kinds of events, there are some who get the job, position or career they’ve been looking for. Put your best foot forward. Dress to impress. Come prepared with 10 to 20 copies of your resume. Make sure your resume is error free and correct. Have a positive attitude and you never know what might happen.”
Questions about the Career Fair can be directed to Youngblood’s district office at 215-849-6426.
