Youngblood, O’Brien to address Phila. school funding Tuesday

HARRISBURG, May 7 – State Reps. Rosita C. Youngblood and Mike O'Brien, both D-Phila., will host a news conference at noon Tuesday, May 8 in the Capitol Media Center to discuss a plan that will help the Philadelphia School District amid fears that schools may not open this fall without an infusion of revenue to help the financially strapped district.

Youngblood, who is the Democratic chairwoman of the House Gaming Oversight Committee, and O'Brien, who is the Democratic vice chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, will discuss a legislative proposal that would serve as an alternative to raising property taxes in the city of Philadelphia by providing the school district with more than $86 million a year from gaming revenues.

Media coverage is invited.
