Parker's office helps families connect with tax credits
The Benefit Bank helps families connect with tax credits and benefits that go unclaimed annually
PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 19 – State Rep. Cherelle L. Parker, D-Phila., today announced that her office will provide services through The Benefit Bank, an internet-based, counselor assisted service that helps low- to moderate-income individuals and families file for tax credits and benefits for which they are eligible.
The program, created by Philadelphia-based Solutions for Progress, also determines eligibility for Government Assistance, Medical benefits including children's health insurance and Medicaid and prescription drug coverage.
Each year, millions of individuals and families fail to receive the money and benefits due to them and, as a result, more than $35 billion in government benefits go unclaimed.
"During these tough economic times, it is so important that we provide people with the relief that they are owed," Parker said. "There are a lot of people that are unaware they are eligible for some of these programs. They can stop in my office, and through this program we can determine eligibility and get them the assistance they need."
For more information, contact Parker's office at 215-242-7300, visit her office at 1536 E. Wadsworth Ave, or her Web site at www.pahouse.com/parker. Her office fax number is 215-242-7303.
