Casorio offers free brochure on college planning, financial aid
HARRISBURG, Dec. 11 – Students and parents looking for resources to help plan and pay for higher education may visit state Rep. James E. Casorio Jr.’s North Huntingdon or Jeannette office to pick up a free copy of the brochure, “Online Resources: Planning for Higher Education with PHEAA.”
The brochure, produced by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, features a number of Internet sites that offer access to information and resources on higher education and financial aid.
Sites featured in the brochure include:
o www.PHEAA.org, which offers comprehensive information on Pennsylvania’s State Grant Program, loan forgiveness programs and other financial aid, as well as college planning help;
o www.aesSuccess.org, which provides access to online financial aid applications, online entrance and exit counseling, and a list of free resources for parents, students and high school guidance counselors;
o www.EducationPlanner.org, which provides 24-hour-a-day access to free self-assessment and career development tools, data about careers that are in demand, nationwide college searches, including business, nursing and trade schools, and prep info and practice tests for the PSAT, SAT and ACT;
o www.CampusChamps.org, a site designed especially for student athletes;
o www.furtheryoureducation.com, which is designed to address the special questions and needs of nontraditional students such as adult students, military veterans, distance learners and transfer students; and
o www.YouCanDealWithIt.com, which focuses on debt management and the financial situations students will face once they graduate from college.
