My office regularly works with the FTC, the nation’s
oldest consumer protection agency. The agency works
with victims of identity theft, and offers
information on a variety of consumer related topics.
We routinely collect complaints about Pennsylvania
companies and forward them to the FTC on behalf of
consumers. |
 |
Created by Congress as a result of the
Communications Act of 1934, the FCC regulates radio,
television, wireless, cable and satellite
communications. My office often helps educate
consumers about the telecommunications industry
through the FCC. |

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances
the needs of consumers and utilities to: ensure safe
and reliable utility service at reasonable rates;
protect the public interest; educate consumers to
make independent and informed utility choices;
further economic development; foster new
technologies and competitive markets in an
environmentally sound manner. |
 |
The House Consumer Affairs Committee works directly
with the staff of the attorney general's office to
help consumers take action against individuals and
organizations they believe have engaged in false or
deceptive business practices. |
 |
The Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate
represents the interests of Pennsylvania’s consumers
before the Public Utility Commission, state and
federal regulatory agencies, and state and federal
courts. The office also helps consumers find answers
to questions or problems with their electric,
natural gas, water or wastewater service. |
