Child Safety Task Force |

Katie Elise Lambert, Age 3 |
In January 2005, Katie
Elise Lambert, a 3½-year-old girl from Rep.
Shapiro’s legislative district, was killed when a
piece of furniture fell on her in her new home. To
prevent such a horrific accident in the future, Rep.
Shapiro introduced H.R. 357 in 2005 to create the
Katie Elise Lambert Task Force on Child Safety. The
House and Senate passed the resolution in July 2006,
charging the task force to report, among other
things, on the feasibility of laws requiring warning
labels on all assembled and ready-to-assemble
furniture sold in Pennsylvania.
The Katie Elise Lambert
Task Force on Child Safety completed its report last
summer.

report. In the current session, Shapiro plans to
introduce legislation which will fully implement the
recommendations of the task force.
