John is a lifelong member of the community. Making sure the young people of our neighborhoods have the same opportunity is one of his top legislative priorities. John was born and raised in Delaware Water Gap, where his parents and tight-knit community instilled the values of family, community and faith. Throughout his life, John has lived those values, striving to give back to the community that has given him so much. As a young man, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1966-1970 as an air traffic controller. Following an honorable discharge from military service, John continued working for the U.S. government in the same capacity. In 1982 he went to work for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, ascending to the level of Assistant Foreman of Maintenance. An avid hunter and sportsman, John has always made family, faith and community his top priorities. John has served as a volunteer firefighter for nearly 40 years, plays the drums for the faith group at his local church, and has served as a Smithfield Township Supervisor since 1990. John was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in a special election held Feb. 8, 2005. John and his wife Elaine moved to Smithfield Township in 1974 after building the home in which they currently reside. They have two sons, Stanley and Kyle and three grandchildren. |
