According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, hunger is at its highest level in Pennsylvania since the USDA began collecting data on hunger in 1995. Nearly 500,000 households across the state are at risk of hunger; in an estimated 164,000 of them, at least one person experiences hunger. That is why I joined the bipartisan Legislative Hunger Caucus. It includes Democrats and Republicans from the House and Senate with the common goal of figuring out the causes of and solutions to hunger in Pennsylvania. I encourage you to visit the Hunger Caucus Web site to learn more about what we are doing. Please contact my office or the Greater Washington County Food Bank if you, or someone you know, does not have enough to eat. |
