Edward G. Staback is currently serving his 13th term as state representative for the 115th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania General Assembly. During his tenure, he has served on a number of legislative committees, including Gaming Oversight, Finance, Judiciary, Consumer Affairs as well as the powerful Appropriations Committee and the Rules Committee. Staback is a member of the Northeast Democratic Delegation, the Coal Caucus and the Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, which he founded and has chaired. Staback has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Four Chaplains Award, United States Legislator of the Year from the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Pennsylvania Association of Conservation District Legislator of Recognition Award and several honorable recognitions by fire and ambulance companies for his efforts on their behalf. Staback serves as chairman of the House Game and Fisheries Committee, on which he has served since the start of his House tenure. He is a recognized leader on outdoor issues, authoring proposals that became law protecting and promoting hunting, fishing, conservation and sport shooting. He is a strong advocate for Second Amendment rights. Most recently, Staback has been a leader in the legislature in efforts to protect elderly residents in nursing facilities, restructure local government agencies to work better and to be more responsive, to protect property owners' rights and to guarantee that each citizen is given the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns at public meetings. He has been a strong, vocal proponent of local property tax reform and has led local projects in reclaiming numerous mine scarred lands. Staback is a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and Kings College. He is a member of many outdoor-related organizations including the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He resides in Sturges, Pa. He is married to Angeline, with whom he has three children – Edward Jr., Sharon and Randy. He is a grandfather of five. |
