Since being elected to the legislature in 2000, state Rep.
Jim Wansacz has been working aggressively to improve
education, protect our environment and help provide
affordable access to quality healthcare for the residents of
northeastern Pennsylvania. A highly motivated legislator
with an ambitious agenda, it did not take long for Wansacz
to gain the respect of his constituents and earn the
reputation as a tough advocate for the people of his
district. Since taking office, Wansacz has successfully put together impressive legislative credentials in a relatively short period of time. He has sponsored legislation to restrict landfills, support family businesses and properly fund volunteer fire companies. He has also fought hard for a strong, expanded PACE program to ensure that senior citizens receive the quality health care they deserve. Additionally, Wansacz has placed a strong focus on the education and transportation concerns of northeastern Pennsylvania, as he has sponsored legislation to reduce class size and improve standards in public schools, and has pushed hard to provide funding for additional sound barriers along northeastern Pennsylvania highways. He is working to secure funding for the passenger rail to New Jersey and New York. In addition to his standing House committee assignments, he has been appointed Majority Deputy Whip and is a member of the Small Business Advocacy Council. As he begins his fourth full term in office, Wansacz remains committed to addressing the issues facing northeastern Pennsylvania. He is proud to serve the 114th Legislative District, and is eager to continue improving the quality of life of its residents. Prior to starting a career in public service, Wansacz graduated from Lakeland High School in 1990 and earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1994. The son of former state Rep. John Wansacz and Mary Ann Presty Wansacz, he took a managerial position after graduation with his family business in Scott Township. He currently resides in Old Forge with his wife, Maria, and their daughter, Nadia Rose. |
