State Rep. John T. Yudichak was
first elected to represent the
residents of the 119th Legislative
District on November 3, 1998.
He has built a strong reputation for
providing professional and
responsive services to the
constituents of the 119th District.
In Harrisburg, Yudichak serves on the committees on Policy, Education, Environmental Resources and Energy, Professional Licensure and Tourism and Recreational Development. He also serves as the co-chairman of the bicameral Penn State Forum on Higher Education.
Yudichak is noted for his leadership
on major issues such as tax reform,
health care, education, and the
environment. He is also one of the
state’s leading advocates for
regional municipal cooperation. He
currently chairs the Luzerne County
Municipal Government Cooperation
Commission.
Yudichak has aggressively pursued
state funding for community projects
in the 119th District. His efforts
have resulted in the following:
Transportation projects
- Construction of the Carey
Avenue Bridge
- Construction of the Sans
Souci/Fellows Avenue Bridge
- Design of the South Valley
Parkway
- Creation of Focus I-81 and
the study of expanding I-81 to
three lanes
Community development
projects
- Development of the Hanover
Crossings Business Park and the
location of Caremark, a health
care service company, employing
400 people in Hanover Township
- Expansion of the Crestwood
Industrial Park with the
location of two major
manufacturers, Mission Foods and
Cardinal Glass, that will create
400 new jobs
- Continued growth of the Hanover
Industrial Estates with the
location of BabyAge, an
Internet-based marketer and
distributor of baby products,
that will create 76 new jobs
- Revitalization of the former
Congressmen Dan Flood Industrial
Park in Newport Twp. into a
mixed-use residential and
commercial development -- The
Whitney Point Development
- Construction of the Hanover Area
regional recreational complex
- Construction of the Wright Twp.
recreational complex in
Mountaintop
He is active in numerous civic
organizations, including The
Luzerne Foundation, the Advisory
Board of Penn State
Wilkes-Barre, Newport Township
Lions Club, Plymouth Township
Recreation Association, and Sons
of the American Legion,
Larksville Post.
Yudichak founded the Yudichak
Family Lighthouse Fund, a local
charity benefiting local
libraries and youth programs, to
honor his parents, Joseph and
Sarah, and his six siblings.
He is a graduate of Greater
Nanticoke Area High School,
Wyoming Seminary, and the
Pennsylvania State University
with a bachelor’s degree in
English and a master’s degree in
American Studies.
He resides in Nanticoke City with his wife, attorney Heather Yudichak and their daughters, Sarah, Anna and Evelyn.
